As is always the case, Netflix has a packed list of movies set to hit the platform in 2022. The streaming juggernaut appears to be continuing its stranglehold as the most subscribed service in the world and their upcoming original movies have plenty of good chance of helping them achieve that goal.
It’s hard to pinpoint which ones are the most exciting to look forward to, because there are so many. They feature some of the most talented and impressive names in Hollywood, from successful actors to award-winning screenwriters and directors. There’s even a highly anticipated sequel or two on the way.
Fistful Of Vengeance (February 17)
It can be great to see a movie that follows on from a popular TV series and Handful of revenge is prepared to do just that. Martial Arts Action Thriller Describes What Happens After Netflix Season 1 Ends Wu Assassins To display.
The idea behind the film is for the Wu Assassins team to reunite after the death of one of their own, only to discover that their enemies have new supernatural powers. Not much else is known, but the movie is slated to arrive in mid-February and fans of the show will likely be completely engrossed in it.
The Adam Project (March 11)
Sometimes audiences don’t need to know a movie’s plot to be excited. They just need to see the actors involved and there’s no doubt that the next The Adam Project is chock full of star power.
Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and many more are part of the cast of this movie and that’s enough to get many people into it. So far, all that’s known of the plot is that it sees a man (Reynolds) travel back in time to confront his late father.
The Gray Man (July)
In 2021, red notice was a massive hit for Netflix thanks to fun action and a star-studded cast. With that came a massive budget but apparently that movie’s $200 million must be topped by The gray manwhich would be the most expensive film ever made by Netflix.
This action thriller is directed by the Russo Brothers, originally Avengers: Infinity War and End of Game. The gray man sees a CIA mercenary (Ryan Gosling) uncover secrets and get hunted down by an unhinged ex-partner (Chris Evans). Add Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton and Jessica Henwick and it sounds like a recipe for success.
Occasionally, several movies come out in the same year with similar concepts. 2022 will take this to the next level with the arrival of two films which both deal with the famous 1883 novel. The Adventures of Pinocchio. Disney will release one starring Tom Hanks but Netflix is taking a more unexpected route.
Their Pinocchio comes from the mind of Guillermo Del Toro, who is known for releasing some of the most creative and unique movies in recent memory. This is meant to be a twisted retelling of the classic tale. The stop-motion film is set for a December release and Ewan McGregor and Cate Blanchett will voice characters.
Persuasion (to be determined)
Jane Austen is one of the writers whose work has adapted to the screen more than any other. It seems like every year brings a new film or TV version of one of his works and 2022 is no different because Persuasion is coming to Netflix.
The novel is Austen’s last published work, published just after his death. The story itself is strong enough to make it an anticipated movie, but the fantastic cast led by Dakota Johnson and Henry Golding only adds to why it will likely be watched by millions when it arrives.
White noise (to be determined)
Not to be confused with the 2005 film of the same name, this White noise is defined to be something totally different. The story centers on a professor of Hitler studies and how his life changes drastically following a train crash that results in chemical waste covering his town.
Regardless of your thoughts on the premise itself, the people behind this movie are the biggest reason to get excited. Oscar nominee Noah Baumbach is directing and writing, while fellow Oscar nominees Greta Gerwig and Adam Driver are leading the cast.
You people (TBD)
There are instances where a movie is just filled with some of the funniest actors to ever grace the big screen and that’s enough to draw in the audience. you people looks like it could be one of those as it stars Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
They are heavyweights who will be joined by Mike Epps, Rhea Perlman and many more. The film (which was co-written by Hill) is set to focus on a new couple and their families, featuring cultures and generations clashing. With so much talent involved, it’s bound to be a success.
Spider head (to be determined)
One of Netflix’s biggest recent hits has been Extraction (which has a sequel in development) and was directed by Chris Hemsworth. In 2022, he’ll be at the forefront of another movie that could become a big deal on Netflix in spider head.
The film is based on a dystopian short film by George Saunders and tells the story of inmates in a prison where you can reduce the length of the sentence by participating in experiments involving emotion-altering drugs. Hemsworth plays the prison overseer, while Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett portray the inmates at the heart of the tale.
Blonde (to be determined)
Ana de Armas quickly made a name for herself in Hollywood. With stunning supporting performances in Blade Runner 2049 and hands of stone setting the stage for his best work in Knives outde Armas started popping up everywhere and rightly so.
His biggest role is probably coming in Blond where she will play the iconic role of Marilyn Monroe in a film that tells a fictionalized version of the icon’s life. That’s enough to get people excited, but the addition of Brad Pitt as producer and Adrien Brody and Bobby Cannavale to the cast doesn’t hurt.
Knives Out 2 (Late 2022)
Netflix has struck a mega-deal by outbidding multiple studios for 2019’s mystery sequels Knives out. Rian Johnson will again write and direct the film, which is expected to return Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc. The well-received first film had audiences clamoring for a sequel.
However, the casting news for Knives Out 2 only added to the excitement. Although the plot is not yet known, Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr. and Ethan Hawke make up one of the most impressive casts of all. the temperature.
