Netflix’s October original movie offerings are dominated by two movies at opposite ends of the spectrum: Henry Selick’s “Wendell & Wild” and Edward Berger’s “All Quiet on the Western Front.” The first sees the legendary stop motion artist behind ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ direct his first feature film since 2009’s ‘Coraline’. The film features former comedy partners Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele voicing a pair of mischievous demons who team up with a teenage girl in their attempts to reach the land of the living. “All Quiet on the Western Front,” meanwhile, gives Erich Maria Remarque’s legendary World War I novel the cinematic treatment, depicting the war in all its brutality.

In addition to its high-profile originals, the streaming service is once again rolling out a stacked collection of existing films. This month’s offerings lean more towards artful entertainment than high art, but there are plenty of gems that will keep even the most discerning movie buff entertained.
