Netflix added 47 new movies and shows this week

Welcome to your weekend recap of what’s new on Netflix where the streaming service saw 25 new movies and 22 new series added to the service. We’ll also check out what topped Netflix’s top 10 throughout the week.

Next week, Netflix is ​​adding a series of great throwbacks from Nickelodeon, adding the new movie Illumination, Sing 2, and the release of Kevin Hart’s big new movie, The man from Toronto.

Best New Movies & Shows Added This Weekend

This (2017)

We’ve seen Warner Brothers films arrive on Netflix five years after their theatrical release dates and it continues today with the release of the hit 2017 film adapting Stephen King’s novel, This.

The film sees Bill Skarsgård play the creepy role of Pennywise and also features a familiar face if you’re a fan of stranger things. The film sees children take charge of the investigation of a killer clown after numerous kidnappings.

It would later get a sequel which should be on Netflix in a few years based on current trends.


SPRIGGAN (Season 1)

Gender: Animation, Action, Adventure
Cast: Mariya Ise, Chiaki Kobayashi, Kenji Hamada

Based on manga which was released over 30 years ago, this new Netflix adaptation comes after a number of major adaptations over the years and early reviews indicate it may be the best yet.

Here’s the official rundown of what you can expect if you decide to give the new 6-episode anime series a go:

“The relics of an ancient civilization on Earth hold dangerous powers – it’s up to the Spriggan agents of ARCAM Corporation to keep them out of the wrong hands.”


alchemy of souls (Season 1 – New Episodes Weekly)

Gender: K-Drama, Romance, Period Drama
Cast: Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Yu Jun-sang, Shin Seung-ho, Oh Na-ra

If you like your big dramas from the K-drama period, Alchemy of Souls promises to be the biggest new release of the year.

Here’s what you can expect:

“A powerful witch in the body of a blind woman meets a man from a prestigious family, who wants her help to change his fate.”

2 new episodes of the show will be released weekly with the two new ones hitting Netflix on June 25th and 26th.
